Ozzy Is In Hell?
Ozzy is in hell? And someone knows this for sure? Someone felt the need to inform the rest of us? Those who believe they have the God-given discernment to judge who is in and who is out?
Recently, I saw on Facebook several Christians stating that the Prince of Darkness (Ozzy Osbourne) is now going to meet the real Prince of Darkness. I find such statements quite disheartening. How do we know this? Does God give some of us the inside scoop and not others? I have seen the scripture quoted in Matthew 7:16 which states “you will know a tree by its fruits.” Those who use this scripture in a scenario like this clearly lack basic biblical knowledge. This passage refers to being aware of false prophets. It is safe to assume that Ozzy did not consider himself a prophet.
This discussion points to a larger issue. Some Christians tend to judge what they don’t understand. I find it fascinating to learn the final words of famous people who have passed away.
Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple) simply said in his final words, “Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow.” Comedian, Sam Kinison’s reported last words were: "I don't want to die. I don't want to die," followed by a pause, then, "Why now?" another pause, "But why?" and finally, "Okay, Okay, Okay". We simply don’t know what these men or other people go through in life or private decisions that are made. Was Steve Jobs a Christian? Did he come to know Jesus in his final moments? I don’t know. Did Sam Kinison return to his roots as a Pentecostal preacher in his final moments? We will never know the answer to that question.
What I do know is that God’s grace is for everyone. Even the infamous serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, came into a relationship with God before he was murdered in jail.
Can I confirm or deny that Ozzy is in heaven or hell? I cannot. However, there is hope as Ozzy Osbourne was given a Bible just two weeks before his death by celebrity evangelist Dylan Novak, who shared the gospel with him and placed a Bible with his name written in it in his hands. Novak later stated that Jack Osbourne, Ozzy's son, told him the Bible meant more to his father than he could imagine, as Ozzy took it with him and began thumbing through it, specifically looking at the gospels. This is according to a Google search with reputable sources.
I think we would all do well to refrain from making broad statements about someone. Unless we were next to someone at their death bed, and even then it would be hard to say, we should keep opinions on someone’s eternal resting place to ourselves. Those types of opinions, I believe, do more harm than good to the Christian name.
