Ace Frehley: We Are Metal, We Are Family
As a Sanctuary pastor, I am reminded of Sanctuary International’s slogan, "We are metal, we are family," rings true in the wake of the recent passing of legendary Kiss guitarist, Ace Frehley. This motto serves as a reminder that the metal community, both Christian and mainstream or "secular", is a family. We stand united in our shared love for the genre and its artists, and we mourn together when we lose one of our own.
I won't pretend to have known Ace Frehley's spiritual beliefs or where he stood in his faith. That's not for us to judge or speculate. However, what we do know is that he was a part of our metal family, and his loss is deeply felt by all of us.
When we say we are a family, we acknowledge that we are a diverse group of people with different beliefs, backgrounds and experiences. Families include both saved and unsaved people, but regardless of our individual paths, we love and care for each other. When one of us hurts, we all hurt. It's okay to mourn, it's okay to reflect on the first time you saw Ace play, and it's certainly okay to remember Ace's family in your prayers.
Ace Frehley was an incredibly talented musician who has left an indelible mark on the world of metal. He was the reason many people were inspired to pick up a guitar in our youth. The tributes pouring in from across the globe, including from Christian guitarists, are a testament to the lasting impact he made on the genre and its fans.
As we mourn the loss of Ace Frehley, let's take a moment to appreciate the music he gave us and the influence he had on countless musicians. His legacy will continue to live on in the music he created and in the hearts of his fans.
In times like these, Sanctuary International's slogan, "We are metal, we are family," serves as a source of comfort and unity. We stand together in our shared love for metal and in our shared grief for the loss of a beloved member of our family. We are metal, we are family, and we will remember and honor Ace Frehley's contribution to our community.
So, let's celebrate his life and legacy, and remember his family in our prayers. Let's support each other in this time of mourning, and let's continue to uphold the spirit of unity and family that defines us as a metal community. Because we are metal, we are family.
