Day 70: Facebook "FRIENDS"

If there is one thing I have discovered about doing a daily blog where you can be free to share what you like, it is this...you will begin to get friend requests on Facebook from people you know only want to spy you out or stand waiting ready to pounce on you, the minute you make a comment referring to Christianity that cuts across their legalistic standing of what they believe.

I began to weed out my Facebook "friends" back in the winter of 2008 when I did a Christmas series at Radiant Fellowship entitled, "A Beetles Christmas...The Christmas story as told by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, George and Ringo." It was then that people I thought were friends were basically bashing this message series, my ministry and me personally. Let me tell you that nobody needs to live with that. I did what any person in their right mind would do and I dropped them as a friend.

Fast forward a couple years and now I have this daily blog going. Some of the very people I dropped are still requesting to be my friend on Facebook. I know for a fact that the minute I approve them they will sit back and observe...than in one swift hit they will post something that rips me a part. Now of course they do this under what they would call, "the true understanding of the scripture" when in fact they are nothing more than Pharisees living under the law and not grace.

Pastor, leader, etc. you don't have to befriend everyone that asks...especially if it is someone you don't care for or you know is going to hurt you. Your opinion is your opinion. Your Facebook is your Facebook. If you let the ones on your Facebook that have hurt you in the past and expect something has changed....unless there was an apology from them...it hasn't changed. Keep your life free from being polluted. Focus on the positive or neutral relationships you have online.
